A young lady we have featured before dropped a new video last week and its a stunner. Taking James Blakes recent single Retrograde Kayla L’ayton delivers a stunning version of the track with a powerful and flawless vocal performance. Using just the keys with her vocals adds to the beauty of the track. There is an EP of new material in the pipeline from Kayla get to know about her.
Another week another Soul features visual with Divageek. My favourite track from The He Said She Said album this is just RIDICULOUS! An absolute beast of a tune the guys rock it out in stunning fashion. In my eyes they can do no wrong and if you haven’t already got your hands on the album you really need to get it in your life! Props to Soul Features for another gem!
New music from the lovely Kadija Kamara. Shot on the streets of NY Kadija a track filled with 60s and 70s soul grooves and sounds and the visuals are shot in a similar fashion to match. Loving the full band feel to the track and as the title suggest it has a real nice groove to it. Looking forward to seeing this live and what else Kadija has been cooking up! Welcome back Miss Kamara!
Tawiah continues the build up towards the release of her new Freedom Drop Mixtape with some new visuals. “Open Your Eyes” takes the famous vocal line from Common’s and Bilal’s classic “The Light” and transforms it into a soul ballad. Dwele did something similar a few years back but Tawiah puts a completely different spin on it and it sounds just beautiful. Featuring Sam Beste and Alex Reeve the trio create something real special. Following on from Teardrop and her superb performance at PMOI Live a couple weeks back the anticipation around this Mixtape continues to grow. April 30th cannot come too soon!

Last Thursday night Ego Ella May dropped her debut EP The Tree with a full band launch. Her fully produced sound is different to her live performances that her reputation has been built on. Hip Hop Beats and moody synths and keys reminiscent of Foreign Exchange but darker, whilst her vocals and harmonies remind me of the sounds that were coming out of the Timbo and Missy Camp in the late nineties. It easy to hear all the potential that this young lady holds the songwriting and vocals tells the story itself. This is a special artist with a massive future get downloading this EP and get to know about.
More quality from Incisive as he brings us a special edition of his Car show featuring not one, not two but THREE Incisives!!! The video is for the opening track from his “Where Is He” which is available on iTunes now if you haven’t already get your hands on it quality.
Last year Divageek dropped one of my albums of the year “He Said She Said”. With the album still going strong they teamed up with Soul Features to head down to The Red bull Studios and film this superb live performance of the killer track Money. As always Vula and Ben bring the fire (big up Jodie killing it on bass), the end break is awesome! Vula Vula Vula that voice arrrrgggggggghhhhhhh!!!! Watch it all and enjoy!!!! Apparently there is new music on the way i just can’t wait!!! Big up Soulfeatures on the visuals!
Friday night was a great @ Proud Camden as Soul D Out started the night off with a couple of hours of quality live music from some of London’s finest up and coming talents. The Remedies on house band duties delivered as always assisting Julie Iwehta, Juliyaa and Shea Soul in delivering 3 superb sets of vocal brilliance. Marie Dahlstrom also performed a strong set but it turned out they were all just warming it up for Incisive to step and and shut it down. The trio of musicians that joined him on stage brought a groove that had the whole room rocking. Setting us up with last year’s smash This Groove and then going into tracks from the new mixtape “Where Is He” he showed why live HipHop performances always sound better with a band. They were so tight and looked like they were having the time of their lives up on the stage. The energy that they gave off fed the crowd who in turn showed their appreciation singing and dancing along. A fine performance from an artist who insists on consistently delivering quality. Cop the mixtapehere now if you haven’t already.
Salute to SoulDOut and Love Dough for a great Friday night.
Tawiah dropped her first ever video for her new track Teardrop. As to be expected the track is EPIC and not something you can compare to anything else. Her vocals as always are full of power and class. I’ve been yearning for a Tawiah album for the longest time now I hope this video and the response to it means that i and the rest of the world won’t have to wait much longer.
Catch Tawiah performing @ Put Me On It LIVE @ The Old Queens Head this Wednesday March 13th details here.
